Designed for Glostrup Furniture Factory during the 1950s, Kurt Olsen’s charismatic Easy Chair resides as an outsider in the pantheon of Danish design classics and adds an almost self-deprecating charm to the idiom of the movement.
Made from aged teak and newly upholstered in first grade wool of a light marigold hue, the chair leverages comfort and style while highlighting its distinctive features: the teak armrests that perform like earlobes of a fantastical elephant, flanking the back’s inviting, parachutal width.
Today, little is taught about the career and production of Kurt Olsen, which makes this chair even more of an appealing find. This is an eccentric cornerstone of the OMNI heritage collection.
